Hundreds of organ recipients pay tribute to donors at St. Patrick’s Cathedral

A Bronx woman who received the gift of sight brought tears to the eyes of hundreds Saturday when she delivered a soaring speech honoring the anonymous donor who changed her life.

"I wake up every morning grateful — grateful to see the beauty of a new day," Noemi Castro-Feinstein said to a gathering of fellow transplant recipients, family members and donors at St. Patrick's Cathedral . . .

A new teenage cause: Organ donation

(CNN )As a 16-year-old in New York state, there are a lot of things I cannot do. I can't join the Army, I can't get a driver's license, I can't vote, and I can't drink. But there's one thing I can do. I can register to become an organ donor, something that before February 14, 2017, no 16-year-old in New York could do. Last year, New York joined 47 other states in the nation that allow 16-year-olds to register as organ donors. Due to the recent legislation from Albany, high schoolers can now help a cause greater than themselves: the organ donation crisis . . .

Organ Donors And Recipients Gather At St. Patrick’s To Celebrate The Gift Of Life

 

ANDREW FALZON -- NEW YORK (1010 WINS) -- Organ, eye and tissue donors along with recipients and families came together at St. Patrick's Cathedral on Saturday to celebrate the gift of life.

"I was diagnosed with PSC which is primary sclerosing cholangitis," Andy Bratton said. "It's a progressive disease, that eventually you have to have a new liver. There is no cure," he said. His only option was a liver transplant . . .

Thankful Liver Kid Salutes All Donors

Thousands of organ recipients gathered at St. Patrick’s Cathedral yesterday with donors and the families of donors – and listened to one young recipient tell how grateful she is for getting the gift of life.

​

Gillian Cohen, a 9-year-old liver recipient, lit up the majestic house of worship during the Transplant Recipients International Organization’s 12th annual Remember and Rejoice service . . .

It was a Mother’s Day that the parents of Baby Jordan – the miracle heart-transplant recipient who turns 6 months old tomorrow – won’t ever forget.

​

On that day, Jeff and Sadaf Trimarchi, Jordan’s parents, and the mother of the baby whose heart now beats strongly in Jordan’s chest, prayed together at St. Patrick’s Cathedral during a special service for organ donors . . .
